Teambuilding
Staff Team 2008
This hands on series of acquaintance, trust building, and problem-solving
activities provides a great workout for your team. New teams and teams looking for renovations
will be given opportunities to familiarize and develop strong bonds while learning how to work
together more effectively. Each program is customized to meet the specific requirements of each
group. Typically this program runs 2-4 hours and combines well with our other teambuilding
activities to create a full day outing. The Takhini Hot Springs provides an excellent
environment for this program including open spaces, picnic shelters, fireside room, restaurant
and washroom facilities. This program is adaptable to at a variety of venues
(a city park, a boardroom, campground, convention centre, etc.).
GPTeaming (GPS based Teambuilding)
This exciting program utilizes GPS technology (electronic navigating tool) to create a new
twist on teambuilding. Small teams use GPS units to locate mystery caches located around the
Takhini Hot Springs. These caches can involve rewards, puzzles, trust, problem solving and
tests of fortitude. Groups are presented with opportunities to develop effective interaction,
expand problem solving skills, realize strengths, face fears and generally enjoy a pleasant
outing in the country... (More info & Pictures)
Climbing Wall & Zipline
These adventure activities combine well with our 'Staff Team 2008' program or as a stand-alone
activity. Groups are provided with all equipment, a safety briefing and ongoing instruction.
Be prepared for an active session; while the more adventurous are challenging themselves in the
vertical world, more timid participants can help with the safety systems, take pictures and do
a bit of cheerleading. For more information about the zipline, click here.
Real Rock Excursions
The cliffs and canyons surrounding Whitehorse provide an excellent venue for groups wanting to
get away from the city and experience climbing, hiking, rappelling and canyoning. This program
includes a short hike (with nature interpretation), all equipment, safety briefing, ongoing
instruction, transportation and Lunch. Programming can be adjusted to meet the fitness and
challenge level of your group.
Myers Briggs
'Put your profile to the test' - this more committing program requires a minimum of 2 days.
Participants spend the first day learning about their personality preferences through a
facilitated Myers Briggs personality profiling session. The goal of this process is for
participants to gain a better understanding of their personality characteristics and how
these types best interact with others. Once this is established, the group spends the second
day of the program exploring one of the exciting rock climbing sites in the Whitehorse area or
trying some of the Yukon's world class white water rafting. Before, during and after this
adventure, the group will participate in facilitated discussions relating their Myers
Briggs results to the challenges of their adventure experience.
Atlatl Teaming
Learn how to hunt Woolly Mammoth! For groups looking for a traditional Yukon experience, this
is it. Atlatl (At-La-Tle) is a traditional spear throwing system found in most primitive societies
around the world. It is the precursor technology that led to the development of the bow and
arrow. Today, after thousand of years of obscurity, it is enjoying a renaissance as a popular
hobby and is rapidly becoming an international sport.
This hands-on program incorporates archaeology, history, traditional skills and nature
interpretation to create a unique teambuilding experience for your group. The program is
facilitated by a local expert who will present the history and have examples of traditional
atlatls. Participants will then have a chance to learn to throw the atlatls. Other program
options include going on a short hike to gather building materials, building the throwing
boards, and for the more adventurous, Atlatl golf.
IMAGINE:
In the misty dawn of a Beringia morning a small group of hunters set out to hunt the mighty
woolly mammoth with nothing in their hands but a simple spear and a forked stick the length of
ones arm. That is what ancient man hunted with for eons of time... and succeeded. Now you can
do it too (minus the mammoth, of course).
In the last decade the Yukon has become the Hotbed of Atlatl archaeological studies around
the world due to the recent discoveries of hundreds of Atlatl artefacts emerging from melting
alpine ice-patches. These discoveries have sparked immense interest in one of the oldest
technologies in the development of mankind.
