Ice Tower Tour

You don't have to be a hardcore athlete to try the Ice Tower Tour. You will get a chance to climb the Ice Towers with ice axes and crampons, and you can also explore the ice caves, walk around the tower with ice trekkers, and try the zipline. Depending on the day, we may even have a campfire and storytelling.

The Ice Tower Tour is a fun thing to do in Whitehorse. If you happen to be visiting the Yukon, you will want to check this fun activity off your list.

Your fully guided tour includes all the gear and equipment you will need, instruction on ice climbing technique, and optional dad jokes.

Time:
2 hours

When:
Tours are available daily from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM for groups of two or more. Single bookings will be grouped with existing booked tours.

Price per person: $169

Included:
All gear including boots, crampons, ice axes, and friendly guide.

What to bring:
Dress warm and bring your inner explorer.

Where:
Ice Towers are located at Mount Sima Ski Hill. Go to the ski rental shop downstairs to meet your host, gear up, and have a short safety briefing. The distance from the shop to the Ice Towers is a short 100 metre walk.

What:
You don’t need to be a climber to try ice climbing. Your guide will go over basic techniques with you and do a demonstration.

All climbing is done on ropes with a qualified guide belaying you. Spend as long as you like to feel comfortable with the movement. If you are feeling more adventurous, have a go at ascending the tower.

Wow! What a spectacular day! The hike in to the waterfall was so incredibly beautiful, albeit a bit exhausting, and the actual ice climbing was so fun! It took a bit to get the hang of it but it was simultaneously challenging and exhilarating. Our guide made us feel safe and confident.      Verified Solo Birthday Adventure
Jono was fantastic. I booked an adventure for my 40th birthday. The hike to the falls was hard in the snow but once there the views were amazing. I had difficulty getting my feet to agree with the mission but Jono was patient and kind. His dog Atlas was also very encouraging (though appeared to have absolutely no difficulty with the hike or climb). It was a great way to spend the day and feel accomplished. Thank you!

     Verified Coolest activity in the Yukon
My brother and I had the absolute best time with equinox! We booked the full day water fall ice climbing excursion. Our tour guide was funny, knowledgeable, and brought great energy. My brother lovingly referred to him as rent a granola for the day, because it truly felt like we were hanging out with a friend. As two people with zero ice climbing experience we felt safe and were able to learn and build some solid skills during our tour. The view from the top of the water fall being scaled was absolutely breathtaking. I would recommend being in averagely good physical shape as this activity requires endurance. However the route is designed that allows for breaks while climbing. Plus there were snacks!!!

The highlight of my trip so far. Naomi is a brilliant communicator, I knew exactly what I needed to bring for the tour well in advance. The equipment is high quality with a great safety briefing and tutorial. The climbs themselves were amazing. I felt supported the whole time. Well designed and innovative. Kids said it was fun, challenging, and the everyone was really friendly. The hot chocolate and fire was a nice touch. Getting bigger/higher in the future, which will make it even more appealing.
